Chinoise Evening Coat

This coat is a one-of-a-kind treasure. When I designed it, my mind was thinking about 18th century fops. However, the influences of the Maharajas of India also come into play.

The coat itself is semi-fitted with a deep vent in the back, much like a tuxedo tails coat. This coat is made from an iridescent raspberry shantung overlaid with a periwinkle shantung. The embroidery comes from an antique Mandarin Chinese skirt. Turn back cuffs and a standing collar provide additional construction detailing. Frogs, antique metallic bullion, cord and tassels, plus over 40 yards of metallic braid finish this coat. It is fully lined in silk with additional finishing touches inside.
