Silk Noil Kimono Jacket with Hmong Batik

silk kimono jacket

This jacket is a variation on a Japanese Haori. The Haori is traditionally a short kimono-type jacket that goes over the kimono as outer-wear. Here, it is a casual and comfortable, not to mention unique statement, jacket that you can dress up for work or dress down with jeans.

Made from celery colored silk noil, it features panels of hand-made hemp batik made in northern Thailand by the Hmong people. The soft indigo blue and pale green work well together and are accented by the hand dyed banding and detailing.

Inside, you will find "feng shui for the body". There are power symbols hand block printed on the lining to enhance your "personal environment". Here, the stylized hand, representing praise, giving, receiving, welcome and blessing, is combined with the universal whorl of life and a mandala illustrating the four cardinal directions.
